Rumor: Prey 2 Cancelled

Late last week and over the weekend numerous sources were reporting on a rumor that Prey 2 has been cancelled by Bethesda Softwork's parent company Zenimax Media. The rumor seems to have originated from the Dutch gaming site PS Focus, with a potential official announcement sometime this week. What is making this rumor stick a little more than most is the fact that Bethesda has not denied the rumor, when they recently denied another cancellation rumor regarding Doom 4.

Prey 2 is the sequel to 2006's Prey, and had players once again taking on the aliens behind the Sphere. Players take on the role of a U.S> Marshall who crashes into the Sphere and is transported to the alien planet of Exodus where he becomes a bounty hunter in search of a way out. Of course until there's some sort of announcement from Bethesda, everything is just speculation, but Prey 2 did appear to be pretty far along when it was featured at E3 2011 last summer so if it is cancelled there's a possibility it could be picked up by a different publisher.
