Guide Review - Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
The story begins with our hero in a hospital bed unarmed. Those unfamiliar with the background story can view a summary of the original Max Payne prior to beginning. Max Payne 2 doesn't offer gamers any help getting use to the controls, there's no in game or first mission tutorial. Those familiar with the original should have no trouble becoming reacquainted in a hurry.
The graphics for Max Payne are truly amazing, with detail, texturing, shadowing beyond anything I've seen. This however comes at a price, for the full potential of the visual and graphical effects you'll need a top notch graphics card - 64MB card at least.
One feature that sets this game apart is called "Bullet Time 2.0". This allows you to literally slow down the game allowing your reflexes to catch up. Bullet Time gives you the opportunity to aim, dive, and fire at your enemies. But of course there's one catch, your time allowed in this mode is limited so use it wisely!
Audio can be best heard on a surround sound system if available but make sure the kids are in bed, there's plenty of foul language. That and the obvious violent nature is what give Max Payne 2 it's mature rating.
With the combination of it's superb graphics and story, Max Payne 2 leaves a lasting impression.
