Grand Theft Auto 3 is a third person action shooter that puts you in the shoes of a common criminal who gets a lucky break and escapes from the police during transfer to prison. In Grand Theft Auto 3 instead of going straight, your goal is to avoid the law and hide out in Liberty City, all while trying to work your way up the criminal world hierarchy. This is done by the careful execution of illegal activities for the benefit of crime bosses, until you're able to move above them in the criminal food chain.
