Quality of Site - 5/5:

Home of the Underdogs is a freeware/abandonware site that offers a vast number of titles for download. It is a virtual gold mine for many classic out of print games and has grown to a library of over 5,000 games. HOTU is dedicated to the preservation of underrated PC ganes and while the vast majority of the games are abandonware if it again becomes available for sale, or if the copyright holder requests, it will remove the download files. In addition to abandonware, Home of the Underdogs does list some freeware and shareware games.

Searching - 4/5:

Games on Home of the Underdogs can be searched by a number of very helpful options. You can search for games by theme, year released or alphbetical. It also allows for title, companion and designer text searches.

Downloading - 2/5:

As with most free sites, bandwidth is at a premium on HOTU. You will have to click through two screens and go through some simple verification to download. Overall download speeds are not very fast but the file size of most games are relatively small so it is not much of an issue.
