About Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is a remake of the classic computer role playing game Baldur's Gate that was released back in 1998 and will include the story from both the original release as well as the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. Set in the Forgotten Realms the game returns players to the Sword Coast of Faerun, recreating all environments as well as introducing new playable characters each with new adventures and locations.
Features & Gameplay
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, like the original, will use the 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons ruleset and the basic game play and top down perspective will also remain unchanged. For those of you who've tried to play Baldur's Gate on a more modern system with wide screen monitor is the lack of support for different screen resolutions. One of the biggest changes is the updated graphics which includes support for wide screen monitors and high resolutions. Other new graphical/game play features includes different viewing angles and the ability to zoom in and out.
While Baldur's Gate was slightly ahead of its time compared to other games released in the late 90s, by having multiplayer support, it was very limited with only support for LAN or direct connect. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition will have an updated multiplayer component which includes multiplayer matchmaking which enables cross platform multiplayer capability.
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition will also allow players full control and customization of all 6 characters in your party, this is another change from the original game that only allowed full customization and control of the main protagonist and partial control of party members. To go along with this, developer Overhaul Games, has introduced three new playable characters a monk named Rasaad yn Bashir; A half-elf mage named Neera, and a half-orc blackguard named Dorn Il-Khan. The first two characters have their own adventure while the half-orc introduces a new evil character kit know as Blackguard.
Some final additions to the game include all of the character classes, races, character kits that were included in Baldur's Gate II and its expansion packs are also included in the Enhanced Edition.
