About Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth title in The Elder Scrolls series of computer role playing games and is the follow up to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion but does not follow the same background or storyline of Elder Scrolls IV. Elder Scrolls V is set some 200 years after the events of Elder Scrolls IV, and takes place in a previously unexplored region of the Elder Scrolls world know as Skyrim. Skyrim has plunged into civil war after the murder of the king and ascension of an evil god who has taken the form of a great dragon bent on the destruction of the world. In Elder Scrolls V players will take the role of a prisoner who has been sentenced to death for unknown reasons and also happens to be the last of the Dovahkiin or Dragonborn which is someone who was born with the soul of a dragon.
Features & GameplayElder Scrolls V is an action RPG game that can be played from the first person or third person point of view and while it contains many of the basic RPG game play elements you would expect it does not include a traditional RPG class system for character generation. In fact it does not contain any classes at all. Characters will gain abilities when the level up as they would in traditional computer role playing games but instead of being class focused they will have the ability to focus on and learn new skills and perks that they need as the game progresses. In all there are eighteen different skill trees with more than 280 perks, with the skill trees being split into three main disciplines which mirror traditional RPG class types of Warrior, Mage and Thief. Skyrim is also set in a open world, sandbox style game play that allows players to explore and complete objectives at their own pace. Travel through the environment of Skyrim can be done by foot or mount and will take you to major cities, small towns and villages and untamed wilderness. Players will also be able to create their own weapons, dual wield weapons, performing finishing moves, cast spells and more. Game play features include the above mentioned first or third person perspective, players will be able to fully customize button and key mapping, meaning that any in game function can be assigned to any game pad button or keyboard key. Elder Scrolls V will utilize an updated version of the Radiant AI engine to control the actions of NPCs so that their behavior and reactions to certain situations is more heavily based on the actions that players take with their character. This allows for a wide array of variety in terms of storyline and paths players can choose to follow. Skyrim contains a single player campaign story, with no multiplayer capability.
