Eight years to the day since Diablo II was released, Blizzard Entertainment announced the development of the next chapter in the series; Diablo III. The story for Diablo III picks up the twenty years after the events of Diablo II and once again something evil lurks in the depths below Tristram and the surrounding Sanctuary.
In Diablo III players will be able to create a hero from one of five character classes. So for to date (June 30th, 2008) only two classes have been official announced; the barbarian and witch doctor classes. Each of the five classes will have their own unique spells, skills, and abilities. The game is set in the same Sanctuary players became familar with in the first two Diablo games, with some old and all new characters and locations.
Blizzard is developing a new graphics engine for Diablo III that will include fully 3D environments and the Havok physics engine. Blizzard has also assured fans that Diablo III will be in the same mold of it's predecessors with an easy game interface and fast paced role playing game action.
