Description
From Guide - Dragonshard is the first real time strategy game using the Dungeons & Dragons name. It is also the first D&D computer game set in the new Eberron campaign setting.

Dragonshard adds a somewhat new twist to the recent trend of RTS games having two battlefields, one above ground and one below, by having the typical RTS style game play above gound and then a nice role playing game style of play underground. This RPG style allows you to use smaller hero parties through dungeons, battling monsters and gaining treasure and magical items that lead to added powers and abilities in the above ground battles.

Eberron is a new campaign world in that is a land with a dark underworld ruled by monsters and demons and a surface world with many civilizations of varying races. Surrounding Eberron is the Ring of Siberys, a multi-colored belt of crystal shards, also called dragonshards, that contain powerful magical powers. Dragonshard takes place when Eberron is in chaos and forces are vying for control of a dragonshard called The Heart of Siberys. The game's battles allow players to command armies of varying races while using magic, weapronary and skilled tactics to gain control of this dragonshard.

Each army consists of four "super" types of units, champions, heroic captains, trainable henchment and battlefield juggernauts. The champions are high-level generals who's commands and abilities affect his entire army. This champion is supported by captains who are D&D class based characters such as wizards, clerics, rangers and more who can call soldiers and obtain abilities and items by gaining experience. Specific monsters and races that are included in both battles and underground adventures are humans, halflings, dwarves, mind flayers, beholders, lizardmen, and many more typical to D&D adventures/games.
