Left 4 Dead is a co-op multiplayer first person shooter that tells the story of four survivors in a post-apocalyptic world with each player taking on the role of one of these survivors. Each of these four survivors can be played by a real person co-operatively or you can play with AI controlled survivors. The world has been in the grips of a pandemic that has transformed the infected into mutated zombie type creatures.
The objective of this survival horror game is for players to escape from various environments from urban centers to rural country sides. This is done by working together with the 3 other human or AI controlled characters. Players can arm their characters with various weapons such as rifles, sub machine guns, Molotov cocktails, and more to help them get past the hordes of infected.
There are a half dozen or more different types of infected and the overall premise of the game appears to be a take off of the zombie films 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. Left 4 Dead is due out November 18, 2008.
