Attack on Pearl Harbor is a fast paced action arcade game of World War II air combat set in the Pacific Theater. The title however is somewhat misleading. The actual attack on pearl harbor is not the centerpiece of the game, in fact it is the opening mission to a game that takes you through some of the most famous air battles of the War; Pearl harbor, Guadalcanal, and Wake Island just to name a a few.
The single player portion of the game includes four campaigns, playable as the Americans or as the Japanese. Attack on Pearl Harbor is perfect for gamers that don't have the patience to learn a true flight sim game. It sports some nifty game mechanics and simple controls that can easily be picked up in a few minutes. There's no take off or landing to worry about, no pitch and roll; All you need is to worry about is the mouse to control directions and weapons and the W and S keys for controlling airspeed.
In total there are more than 50 multi-objective based missions in the four campaigns that include large air battles, bombing runs, escort runs, search and destroy and torpedo to ship missions. Each mission type uses different planes; US planes include the F4u Corsair, SBD Dauntless, TBM Avenger, Seafire F-MK-4S, and P-40 Warhawk while the Japense aircraft incldue A6M1 Zero, BSN1 Kate, D3A1 Val and the J1N1 Gekko. In addition to the single player campaigns Attack on Pearl Harbor also includes a multiplayer mode with up to 12 players online.
From first look at the Beta build, Attack on Pearl Harbor is very enjoyable game that is not only fun and fast paced, but best of all it's one of those games you can pick up and play for 5-10 minutes or one you can play for hours going through all the various campaigns and mission types.
