Guide Review - Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War
In the distant future, there is only war. The opening sequence introduces you to, and reveals a bloody and violent future where the only thing known is war. The single player campaign consists of 10 missions that around human space marines. The most battle ready soldiers in the Univrese. The game also includes 3 other civs or factions besides the space marines, the green-skinned orks, the eldars, and forces of chaos.
The graphics of the Warhammer 3-D engine are pretty amazing, battles are fully rendered in 3-D, up close, and colorfully detailed with very good movie cut scenes that help tell the story. The 10 missions do seem a bit short and the game does such a good job of translating the table top miniture strategy game that it's leaves you wanting more.
In addition to the 10 missions involving the space marines there are tutorial missions that introduce you to the 3 other races. The multiplayer facet of Warhammer 40K Dawn of War is very good and supports random games via the Internet which is now a standard for RTS games.
The resource/ecomomic management portion of the game is pretty typical of any RTS game, and is geared towards one thing only, battles.
Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War doesn't have any ground breaking features but it uses features that work for many successful RTS games and it uses them well.
