Attack on Pearl Harbor Review

About.com Rating 3

The Bottom Line

Attack on Pearl Harbor is an aerial combat game that takes you through a series of missions starting with the attack on Pearl Harbor through some of the major World War II aerial battles in the Pacific Theater. Attack on Pearl Harbor is not going to blow you away with it's graphics, there are no ground breaking features that revolutionize PC gaming. But the simple fact is this game works and is fun to play from start to finish.

Guide Review - Attack on Pearl Harbor Review

Just to set everyone's expectations from the start Attack on Pearl Harbor is not a flight sim. If you're looking for a good World War II flight sim that offers realism then this is not your game. With that said, one of the best features of this game is the ease of controls. As mentioned in my preview a couple months ago there's not take off and landing to worry about, no pitch and roll, just simple left/right, up/down, faster/slower controls. You'll need these easy controls because Attack on Pearl Harbor doesn't waste any time getting you into the action.

The game begins with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, unlike many other Pacific Theater World War II games you are give the option to play through either the US or Japanese campaign. There are a total of four campaigns each with unique missions making the re-playability of the game quite good.

Both the AI and mission objectives are not overly complex, each mission has objectives but as long as you're able to shoot down all the enemy planes or sink the ships that should keep you moving forward in the storyline. Attack on Pearl Harbor also supports Internet and LAN multiplayer with up to 12 players but overall most of the fun with this game comes from the arcade style action packed single player campaigns.
