Guide Review - Hammer & Sickle Review (PC)
The premise for Hammer & Sickle is a great one but the delivery of this story and the overall game play leaves a little something to be desired. Built using the same game engine found in the critically acclaimed Silent Storm squad based strategy game, but surprisingly Hammer & Sickle utilizes this wrong. The game play is quite slow and it often becomes tedious to complete missions and objectives without frustration setting in.
The story itself starts to fall apart from the opening mission. Players are not given much background information and the information they due receive, often leaves you confused as to where the game is heading and what your objectives are, this turns a good story into a very uncompelling one. In addition, the in-game cut scenes seem to only exist to hurry players along.
Hammer & Sickle can be finished in about 10-15 hours, which is quite short, and offers very limited replayability. Which can sometimes be a good thing when you want a game to end sooner rather than later.
