 About Rage

Rage is a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter set in the near future where an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. In order to avoid the destruction of humanity, underground Arks are created to protect humans from the impending doom.

The post-apocalyptic backdrop for Rage is fairly similar to that of the Fallout series of games were a catastrophic event has forced humankind into survival mode.

In Rage, players take on the role of a survivor who wakes with no memory of the proceeding events only to find that he is the lone survivor of the Ark they had sought shelter in. Upon exiting the survival Ark, players encounter a bleak and hostile world where surviving humans have banded together for protection and to form small settlements as they struggle for survival against bandits and mutants.

The single player campaign is played in a large open game world that provides players with objective based missions that can be completed at the player's own pace and while they take on and complete side missions. The game also features a number of role-playing game elements such as an inventory system and loot system. The game is played primarily from the first-person perspective but can be played in the third person point of view when traveling in vehicles and vehicular combat.

In addition to the single-player game mode, Rage also includes two multiplayer game modes: Road Rage and Wasteland Legends. Road Rage is free for all competitive multiplayer mode where four players enter an arena with vehicles and attempt to collect as many rally points as possible while trying to avoid being killed. Wasteland Legends is a two-player co-operative multiplayer mode where players can team up to complete missions from the single-player campaign.

Rage received favorable reviews when it was released in October 2011 and has seen the release of two DLCs, the Wasteland Sewer Missions DLC and The Scorchers DLC which introduce new missions and environments. The Scorchers DLC also adds an extreme difficulty setting called Ultra Nightmare and also allows gameplay to continue after the main single-player storyline and missions have been completed.
