Top 10 Movie Based Video Games

Movie based video games and bad video games seem to go hand in hand. This seems to be the case for virtually every game that is released to coincide with the movie of the same title. The top ten movie based video game list doesn't include great games(with the exception of one), many would never find their way to any "best" games list, but it does include games with decent game play and storylines familiar to fans of the movies.

1. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

The Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay is clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the games in this list. Winner of numerous game of the year awards it should be used as the mold for what movie based video games should be.

2. Lord of the Rings Return of the King

Follow the fellowship of the ring in their final quest to deal with the evil forces of Mordor. The graphics for ROK are excellent and the game's story follows the movie very nicely.

3. Shark Tale

Shark Tale is one of three games on the list that are geared more towards kids. The graphics for the computer game closely mirror those seen in the actual movie. Allows you to play as the fast talking fish, Oscar with the fate of Reef City in his hands.

4. The Hulk

The Hulk game actually takes place one year after the events of the film so with the game you have to opportunity to see what a sequel might be like. Includes over 30 levels of play with fully destructible environments.

5. Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is another game that kids will love. This is one of two games that was based on the popular movie from Pixar. As either Nemo, Marlin, or Dory you must complete arcade like mini-games, adventures and puzzles that are meant to exercise creative and thinking skills.

6. The Incredibles

The Incredibles is a single player game that features intense action, graphics and humor that was in the feature film. You can live the film's action scenes over the 18 game levels while playing as the film's main characters.

7. Enter the Matrix

Based on the second Matrix Movie, Matrix Reloaded. It was billed as being a companion to the movie, one was not complete with out the other. What it is a decent action game with some exclusive footage that was not in the movie.

8. Shrek 2

Shrek 2 is the final game on the list for kids. This single player game takes Shrek or one of 9 other characters from the film on an adventures through new locations such as the Spooky Forest and the Dwarven Mines solving puzzles and mini-games to accomplish objectives.

9. Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring

The first chapter of the LOTR trilogy has some great bonus features to the storyline that were left out of the movie. The third person action/adventure game includes more extensive adventuring in the Mines of Moria and encounters with characters not in the movie such as Tom Bombadil.

10. The Punisher

As Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) you travel the night through darkened alleys hunting down criminals responsible for the loss of your family. Includes a unique interrogation mode to gather necessary information from certain enemies.
